Culture in the Community Event
In May, Grantham College and University Centre invited local community groups to their 'Culture in the Community' event. The purpose of the event was stated as follows: "Community-based cultural events bring people together in many ways that express their ideas, traditions and values."
Grantham Seventh-day Adventist Church attended the event with a table-top display of the community activities which our church organise and the links we have with other community organisations. We gave away pens, chocolates, Focus magazines and books labelled with our motto - 'Because you're loved".
We were pleased to meet other members from our own church and our sister church of Lincoln who were representing the organisations for whom they work. Our stand was also visited by Ukrainian friends who attend our church English Class, friends who work in the college and people we meet at other community events such as the Bikers' Toy Run.
Other faith organisations were also present: Christchurch, The Church's Ministry Among Jews, a Hindu organisation and a Muslim organisation were there. Many other community organisations covering a wide range of interests and help services took part in the event.
