On Sabbath 28th October our new pastor was introduced to his Grantham congregation, preaching his first sermon in the district.
Originally from Serbia, Pastor David Rancic is relocating from Cardiff and district, where he served for six years, including acting as Pathfinder Sponsor in the Welsh Mission.
Pastor Rancic is to begin his new role in Grantham, Lincoln and Skegness churches from 1st November. He is joining his wife, Pastor Dusanka Rancic, who arrived in September to take up the role of Editor at The Stanborough Press Ltd on Londonthorpe Road.
The family were warmly welcomed with a fellowship lunch and a service of praise songs and hymns.
During his sermon, Pastor Rancic shared a little of his background with us. He grew up in a pastoral family and learnt from his father how to minister, stating that he wants to “carry people along” and that we are here “to support each other and to walk alongside”. He told us that he is always looking forward to the coming of Jesus, each day thinking, “we are one day closer to the day”.
Pastor Rancic told us that when he first arrived in Cardiff, he saw a cloth with the motif, 'Preach God's Word'. He vowed that in service to our congregation he will, “preach the word” and “love you until Jesus comes again.” Pastor then challenged us by saying that he prays this love will be reciprocated and extend the kingdom; and that we should be known as people of love, following the example of Jesus who 'went about doing good'.
Commenting on his sermon style, he told us to expect him to preach love. Critics say that this is too simple, the 'milk' of the Word and we want more solid food but, Pastor David said, “Love is the solid food!”.
We look forward to Pastor David's ministry and welcome him, his wife Pastor Dusanka, and children, Lena and Luca.
