Platform Tree Update

New look for a new era

Several decades ago, Edward Johnson, Adventist Book Centre Manager, purchased a number of faux trees for The Stanborough Press Open Day.  This was in the days when Open Day was a huge event with several marquees outside in the grounds and inside the building, tours of the production line to show how books were produced.

Ed thought it would be a good idea to donate two of these trees to our church in Grantham to enhance the look of the platform, which looked rather bare at the time.  The trees have served us well and have lasted much longer than expected but have gradually become a bit tatty with some of the branches having lost their leaves altogether and the pot of one is broken.

With a change of minister it seemed like a good time for change and renewal.  So we now have a new look on the platform - put in place just in time for the arrival of our new pastor!

What about the old trees?  Well, they have found a new home in the school and may well reappear in church for school productions.  Jenny Johnson, Headteacher and daughter-in-law of the late Ed Johnson, is going to see if she can repair the trees or make one good one out of the two!
